Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey, Jr. set a new Christmas weekend box office debut record with an estimated $65.4 million, but it wasn’t enough to win the weekend crown, which went to James Cameron’s holdover Avatar. Avatar dropped a miniscule 2.6% as it brought in a stellar estimated total of $77 million.
