JMS Tapped by DC to Write Superman & Wonder Woman
As reported on DC Comics' The Source, author J. Michael Straczynski will take over the writing of both Superman and Wonder Woman. While details are still forthcoming, it was announced that JMS would begin scripting the iconic heroes with July's Superman #701 and Wonder Woman # 601.

Rachel Nichols, who made a major impression as Scarlett in G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, has reportedly been cast in the key role of Tamara in Millennium Films' reboot of the Conan franchise. If confirmed, Nichols will be the second G.I. Joe thespian to appear in Conan. Leo Howard, the juvenile actor who played the young Snake Eyes, is portraying the young Conan.

Christopher McQuarrie (X-Men, Valkyrie) has turned in a script for a second Wolverine film. According to various sources at 20th Century Fox the story for the second Wolverine film takes place in Japan where Logan has gone to perfect his skills in the martial arts and involves a love story that will make it “a very different film from the first one.”

Marvel is well into another Heroic Age “slow reveal.” Having already unveiled the members of the Heroic Age Avengers team that will debut in May in the Avengers #1 comic by Brian Michael Bendis and John Romita, Jr., and then having teased the comic world by keeping the identities of the Ed Brubaker and Mike Deodato’s Secret Avengers under wraps, Marvel has spent this past week announcing the members of the revamped New Avengers. The New Avengers, which will be written by Bendis and Stuart Immonen, will debut on June 1st and will be the third Heroic Age Avengers title.

There is no greater proof of the power of the example of Avatar than Warner Bros.’ decision to use the 3-D process on a number of its “tentpole” projects over the next two years including in addition to Green Lantern, Clash of the Titans (April 2nd, 2010, see “The Losers Moved to June”), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (November 19th), Part 2 (July 15th, 2011), and Zack (Watchmen) Snyder’s Sucker Punch (March 25th, 2011).

Viz will release the first volume of Bakuman, a Shonen Jump title by the Death Note team (Tsugumi Ohba, writer, and Takeshi Obata, who’s also well known for Hikaru No Go, artist), in August.
